Brexit

If Brexit has done anything useful it’s that it has highlighted how easily led people are. The right wing have pulled off a bloodless coup by the use of good old fashioned propaganda (known as lying to the rest of us); the demise of the country is merely incidental to the increase in power and wealth that the right-wing protagonists have acquired. The country, of course, has gained nothing (unless the myth of sovereignty is your thing), but lost its global status, its cooperation with neighbouring countries on many fronts and the freedom of its people to work and live anywhere in the EU. The propagandists sold Brexit on stopping immigration and taking back back control, both of which we had the power to do already, even if we didn’t use those powers. Oh, and unicorns. And £350 million per week for the NHS. Let’s watch the Brexit voter snowflakes’ brains melt as reality takes hold over 2021.

Anyway, be on the guard for further right-wing populist, jingoistic propaganda in case the obvious parallels with the rise of the Nazis becomes just too close for comfort…
