I have acquired a 1956 Boxford Model ‘A’ metal working lathe. It’s currently in parts in my garage awaiting cleaning and re-assembly. I’m in the process of acquiring the missing bits to make it into a complete, functioning lathe.
This is what I acquired, languishing at its old home:

As you can see a lot is missing. It needs a tail stock, cross slide, compound slide, tool post, chuck jaws, apron clamp, bed levelling nuts, drive belts and a good clean!

Interestingly, and unknowingly, when I was working in the electronic labs at Chelsea College in Fulham in the mid-seventies, I was working with a Boxford lathe in the technician’s workshop! Here it is with my colleague, Kevin Emby. I even made something with it; I wonder if I can find it…?
